Finally home for real

The first thing I realized when I got home was that I had no money and no food. I stopped off at Jae and Adena’s place which is down the hall from me and grabbed $20. First, I was going to get some pizza and then get some beer. The pizza joint was closed so I went to McDonald’s, the next closest fast food option. They weren’t taking orders from walkins at that time so I went to the corner market and got a box of sushi. Down the street, I went to the liquor store and got some Guinness. I had some instant ramen around so that completed my meal. It wasn’t the best meal I’ve had in the past ten days or so but it was pretty darned good in other respects.

At SFO

Now at SFO. The flight was good at least for the parts that I was awake which accounted for maybe 45 minutes. The landing was rough though. The pilot reported 20 mph winds before we landed. A good portion of that must have been a crosswind because we had several strong lateral motions after the rear wheels touched down. Normally, if thee are any jarring motions, it’s forests and back or up and down. That’s been my experience anyway.

I’m glad to be back though. Now I’m sitting on a BART train all by myself in the entire car. We’re pushing off in 2 minutes.

At the airport

We got to the airport really early. Our flight leaves around 5:30 and we got here at 2:30. After spending the morning packing up all our gear (4000 pounds was the shipping weight), we got lunch. I had a cheesesteak, fries and an unsweetened iced tea. It hit the spot.

It’s going to be so nice to get back home. I looked at the weather which indicated 65 F which is perfect. I know they’ve been having a heat wave over there but it can’t be anything like the heat plus humidity we’ve had here.

I’m also looking forward to going out for a hit. I haven’t played since coming out here which is a long break considering the number of times u typically play per week. I’ll see if I can get some court time tomorrow.

Breakfast

Gotta eat at the Waffle Shop for my last breakfast here. I suspect I’ll see some of the other folks from the lab too but maybe it’s too early. There are a lot of police eating here this morning. They open at 5:30 so it’s a perfect place to break for the cops.

I’m having waffles, eggs, sausages, and coffee this morning. I only have fifteen minutes to eat this morning so I’m going to eat fast.

Packed and ready to go

I’ve got my stuff all packed and ready to go. I’m testing out the new contact lens replacements today. I have to try wearing them everyday until Tuesday to see if they cause any pain like the other type I had last time. Tuesday I’ll see my optometrist for an evaluation.
