Voice recognition software
I’m writing this post today using voice recognition software. That means, I am not using the keyboard to enter in this text. I am just dictating to the computer. The accuracy of this software is amazingly good. It’s very strange to talk to the computer though. I have to dictate the punctuations so it sounds odd. It would be terrible if my officemate had to listen to me speak to the computer and pronounce all the punctuations.
It’s kind of cool though because if the system makes a mistake, I could just go back with the mouse and make corrections with the keyboard. It’s not that big of a hassle. You get used to speaking punctuations. Ultimately, I don’t think this software saves much time. It will save both hands from repetitive stress injuries. I, by the way, don’t have that kind of stress injuries. I just wanted to try the software out to see if I could write notes while I’m working. This way, I would have my hands-free to do other things.
It’s a little strange saying what you want to see typed out. Normally, I can just type without thinking about what will show on the screen. I just sort of do it. But when you speak, there is different feeling; a feeling that you are doing something wrong. I mean, you’re talking to a computer. There is something wrong with that, isn’t there?
Dinner party next Saturday
Next Saturday, I have 14 or 15 people coming over for dinner. My place is such a mess, it’s going to be a lot of work to get this place ready. I will have to spend some time today, or this weekend, cleaning the place up. Fortunately, it is supposed to rain this weekend so I will have little incentive to go outside. Given the current weather conditions, I find it very difficult to believe that it will rain this weekend. It’s so sunny and beautiful outside right now. I should be playing tennis.
Curb your enthusiasm
I forgot to mention a couple days ago that I watched curb your enthusiasm. This is a show that played or may still be playing on HBO. I highly suggest watching this if you have an opportunity to do so. It’s quite funny.
Motorcycle diaries
Watched motorcycle diaries this evening. It was a good film. I didn’t know anything about Che. I still don’t know much about Che, but I could see how a trip like that could really change a person’s life.
Breakfast
this morning, I had a doughnut and coffee. I forgot to grab the pound cake before I came over here. I haven’t had a donut in a long time. I think the last time I had a doughnut was with Amara when she was here. In fact, I know that’s the case.
Lunch
For lunch, I had a hamburger and fries. The woman who makes sandwiches was not at the counter and I didn’t feel like waiting in line, so I went to the burger line which was much shorter.
Dinner
I had pho dinner tonight. I haven’t had pho in a long time and have been craving it for a while but haven’t had a chance to go over and have some. When I went into the restaurant, it was empty but by the time I left several parties had come in. I came in at a good time.
Oh no.. now you’re talking to the computer!!!! It must be really cool, but kind of a hassle to actually have to “say” all the punctuations as well.
yes, I do feel that it is a lonely existence when I am speaking to my computer, but, this is damn cool!
